A new concept Supper Club has opened in Guildford, with all food cooked authentically by Mandira, Monu and Vikky. We were invited to the Holi Special banquet, which proved to be a feast for the eyes as well as the belly.

We were introduced to new flavours that you just do not get in any Indian resturant here in the UK. The relaxed atmosphere and genial hosts completed a perfect evening.

We were warmly welcomed into Mandira's home where we were bindi-ed up and introduced to our fellow supper clubbers over a glass of bubbly and holi-inspired multicoloured papads (like prawn crackers, see picture). We also tucked into some divine Calcutta-style peanuts and dips. We were seated for the starter course, the highlight of which was the crispy okra, okra being a vegetable that we all agreed would not necessarily appeal.

The main courses were presented on thali sets, authentic Indian dishes made of copper in this case. Only the photo can bring justice to this array of dishes that were cleverly created by the chefs as part of the Holi theme. The flavours and textures of the food were sensational and certainly had far more depth than your regular Indian restaurant.

With our tummies stuffed full we didn't have much room left, but of course we managed to dig deep and squeeze in the chocolate and pistachio cake plus an Indian bread and butter pudding which was divine!

Supper clubs are a great way of meeting new people and trying something different and really are a showcase for what Surrey Spice can offer. Surrey Spice can also cater for large parties, including parent get togethers. You are sure to get brownie points for recommending them!  And those who live around Guildford might like to try the Friday takeaway service launching from April...we expect to become regular customers here at Surrey Mummy.
