Surrey County Council's Surrey Matters magazine is landing on our doorsteps this week and Surrey Mummy's founder, Penny Bramsden, makes a star appearance on page 10! Penny took up the council's Love Food Surrey challenge to see how much money her family could save by reducing their food waste over the course of a month. You can see how she got on in the Spring 2012 edition of Surrey Matters and perhaps it might inspire you to take on the challenge yourself!

Yes, I saw this in Surrey Matters and was inspired to look closer at the Love Food Surrey campaign. I know our family throw away quite a bit of food, largely through bad planning I suspect. I'm going to see how I get on by following the advice and tips Surrey Mummy have passed on.

Hi Ruby76
I'm glad you felt inspired to reduce your food waste from reading Penny's article in Surrey Matters magazine. Following Penny's advice and tips, it would be great to see how you've been getting on with throwing away less food, and if so, would it be possible to share your story via our website at www.lovefoodsurrey.com?

Hi there

Yes I'll happily pop over to the site & do that.

I'm not sure I can put a figure on the money we've saved but I have noticed a reduction in food waste. I've planned meals better, bought less, used up or frozen left overs and we've eaten lots of soup!

It's worth doing as I found our rammed food recycling bin quite depressing both in terms of the environment and the cost to us as a family; it's much lighter now & our purse is a little heavier!

Ruby.
