It is a Thursday evening, all the children are in bed (and asleep) and I'm having a glass of wine and enjoying listening to music from the 90's.

However, if I'm in the car with my children they always want to listen to music that they like...and I end up singing to the latest Mylee Cyrus before I know it! As I have a 9 and 7 year old, they are into the latest music on the radio, but when I want to put on any music that I like, they cause such a stink in the back that I am a danger on the road!

Am I becoming an old fogy or should I put up with their music?

We've made up CDs of lots of our favourite tunes from over the years but ones that are relevant to the children for different reasons (eg in films they have watched) or ones that are just reasonably child-friendly or easy for them to listen to or get into. We've snuck the odd wild card in these CDs as well. We've called these CDs their CDs of children's music and they ask for them. It's a bit of a compromise and better than always listening to the mind numbing nonsense!

ha! i'm trying to work out whether miley cyrus is better than wheels on the bus... i warn you it could be a long phase - i still feel sorry for my father who had to endure 2 weeks of non-stop Carpenters when we went on holiday as teenagers...
