As a member of the 1st Caterham (St Mary's) Cubs, the youngster, who has autism, completed various fitness challenges and went on camping expeditions to earn badges. Alex, ten, a pupil at Woodlea Primary School, in Woldingham, said: "I loved Cubs. "The best thing was the camping and canal boat trips and I am very pleased with what I have achieved." His proud mum Maria said: "Alex's achievements are all the more special because he had to overcome Asperger's and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), which makes it hard for him to concentrate and difficult for him to mix socially. "What he has done will hopefully inspire other children with disabilities to realise they can still achieve an awful lot." |
